TIBETAN IMPRESSION

In November 2019, I went to the Tibetan area of Yunnan for a 15-day sketching activity. The thin air at high altitudes created a broad and clear vision. I was attracted by the blue sky above my head and gradually experienced the grandeur of Tibetan culture. The sacred mountain printed with regular Tibetan script, the five-color prayer flags blowing in the wind, the golden temples, the deeply rooted Buddhist culture, the cruel celestial burial platform, and the unique relationship between humans and animals reflect the open-minded view of life and death of local residents.
The five-color prayer flags are also called "wind horse flags". It is a rectangular colored flag made of cotton, linen yarn, silk and other materials. There are five colors of blue, white, red, green and yellow. The color sequence cannot be disordered. They symbolize the sky, auspicious clouds, flames, rivers and the earth. Tibetan Buddhism also gives the five colors the meaning of five Buddhas and five kinds of wisdom.

I started thinking about the meaning of the five-color prayer flags and created illustrations.
